Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to sharpen this?

The PocketSaw can go for months on end without sharpening.

It can be sharpened as most chain saws with a regular round chainsaw file. If you don't have one, you could always approach your local hardware stores.

Is there a method to use this?

Just let the tool do the work!

PocketSaw works best when you don't apply too much pressure when cutting. This way, you also get much longer life from the blades before sharpening. Less is more.

I cut this 6” tree down in about 30seconds. The chain has way more teeth then the cheap saw I bought. Straps feel soft and not hard like a lot of nylon. The pouch seems to be extra sturdy and very compact. Usually i take a full bow saw camping, now with this, going to take up zero space in my pack. Over all a well deserved 5 stars

My first real test was a 40ft tall tree that had snapped at the base and was stuck in the middle of a trail leaned up against another tree. I whipped out the chain and went to work. It was too heavy to move, but every time I cut, the tree fell slightly more out of the way of the trail. I was able to cut through the tree (about 10" at widest point - see pic with hand for scale) in <60 seconds. Chain got pinched a few times but with some clever angles & muscle you can make it work. For a hand-driven saw with 40ft of tree weighing on it, that's not bad! I highly recommend this pocket chainsaw. I can see this getting a lot of use with very little drawback!

For the price, this thing is hard to beat. It chewed through this 12cm thick Grevillea in barely a minute. Chain is just over 90cm long, sharp as needed and cuts from the rear as well as left and right.

This is compact, lightweight, and rips through trees. My only recommendation is that you have to notch a tree before you using this tool.

Was highly skeptical of this working well - but DAAAAMMMMNNN. This thing rips through trees like butter. I took it on a two night backpacking trip through a section of the Colorado Trail. This time of year there are generally some trees that fall over the trail with our late season snow weighing down the newly leafed trees. Stopped at the first one that had a 4-5" trunk and thought I'd give it a shot. Under a minute and a nice clean cut below the tree break and moved the tree off the trail. Cleared several trees over the next few days.
